So I know that it is cold outside and I should totally post a practical pair of boots for Wishlist Wednesday. But, I have never been the practical type so I am posting what I love instead. Today’s wishlist pick is Jimmy Choo’s Davy boot. I have never been brave enough to get behind the open-toe boot trend but if I was I would definitely be wearing these boots. Enjoy!
So I looked up sexy in the dictionary and instead found a picture of these Sergio Rossi “Secret” over the knee boots. The combination of the burgundy suede with the black lace up detailing is pure and utter perfection. I love the name but let’s be serious, if you are wearing these boots it will be no secret that you are a sexy vixen and everyone best get out of your way. Please take a look and then promptly wipe the drool from your mouths.
So I was walking through Bergdorf’s last week minding my own business not even intending to look at shoes. I was going to meet someone in Dior (another problem in and of itself). But as I was turning the corner and I saw these boots. I had to do a double take. At this point, there are not many Louboutin booties that surprise me or even entice me. There are the basics which we all know and love but who knew this simple mixture of leather and suede would make my heart skip a beat. There really is nothing left to say at this point but want, need and love!
I have been dreaming of spring and summer in the worst way given the frigid weather we have been having in NYC. But then these Altuzarra boots graced the runway during New York Fashion Week and I was transported back wishing it was next fall already and these boots were in my closet. Now of course that is ludicrous. I really want the snow to melt so that I can break out my sandals immediately. If I can’t get that, lusting after these boots are clearly the next best thing.
Last week I went to London and Paris for a bit of a winter break. Anyone who knows me is very aware (and perhaps also the customs officer who took note of my previous stamps from Paris) that I adore Paris. It’s one of my favorite cities in the world. I love to wander around the city and take in all that it has to offer – which of course includes great food and shopping. This visit was no different. I went to some of my favorite shops and Italian restaurant in Le Marais.
This visit I also had the opportunity to visit the Francesco Russo salon. If you have been reading any of my posts lately, you know that I am crushing really hard on his shoe designs right now. My heart sank a little when I arrived at the shop with my girlfriend only to see a “Be back in 30 minutes” note in the window. It was almost 4:00 in the afternoon, so we decided to grab a late lunch and return because not visiting the salon was not an option. In hindsight, it was probably best that we had a rest and fueled up a bit because I certainly needed all of my strength for all of the awesomeness that awaited me.
That moment when the perfect pair of grey boots that you have been looking for all season magically show up on the last call sale rack and they are 50% percent off. I searched high and low this season for these Christian Louboutin boots. They appeared to be sold out everywhere so I had given up all hope. So imagine my surprise, when I stumbled into Bergdorfs on Saturday to warm up after what I can only describe now as a misguided trip to Central Park in 15 degree weather to practice taking pics. And yes I went to Bergdorfs to warm up! Don’t judge! Anyways, back to the boots. I decided to swing through the shoe department to take a look around and peruse the sale rack one more time. I first saw the boots in a half size smaller than what I usually wear but decided to try them on anyways since miracles do happen. As I sat down to try them on I spotted the same boots in my actual size. Hello! Of course they were a perfect fit. Shoemiracle! Here is a pic of my lovelies! Can’t wait to wear them!
Today’s pick is Alaïa’s folded suede boot in red. Alaïa is known for his clingy dresses but I have to admit that I have found myself on many occasions dreaming about his shoes. They are beautifully crafted and extremely sexy. As soon as I saw this Alaïa boot I couldn’t help but fantasize about what they would look like on my feet. The holiday season is really kicking into gear now and I can’t think of a better pair of shoes to find under my Christmas tree. These boots are available to purchase from Net-a-Porter.
Sometimes I think my greatest love affair of all has been with shoes. Frankly, sometimes it’s my only love affair. I still remember my first ShoeMiracle They were on a pair of burgundy suede Christian Louboutin Babel boots. I had been watching them on Bluefly for months. At the time they were still too expensive and I just couldn’t take the plunge. But there was a clearance sale and an additional markdown and an extra 20% off. But there still was the matter of the size. They were a 41 but Louboutins tend to run very small and there was the matter of my calves. I already need to get most boots stretched to accommodate them. What to do….what to do. I decided to pull the trigger and just get them! I had them delivered to the office. In case they didn’t fit, I wanted to turn around send them right back. A few days later they arrived. I remember my assistant asking what was in the box. I told her only the most heavenly boots ever. She pushed me to try them on so she could see. I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Not in front of her. I was so distressed about them fitting that I couldn’t bear to have a witness to my heartbreak if they didn’t. The office cleared out most days around 7. It was only then that I peaked out and around to see who might still be lingering. The coast was clear. So I pulled the box out from under my desk and there they were. Pure perfection!
Now to try them on. I started out with my larger foot first because if they didn’t work on that foot, there was no hope. I slipped my foot in and they fit and they were comfortable. Now could I get them zippered up over my calf. Turns out there was a little stretch at the top of the boot. I got zippered all the way up…qu’est que c’est….now for the left. It went on with even more ease. I now know how Cinderella must have felt except there was no prince. Just me and my beautiful burgundy suede Loubies. These boots were my very first ShoeMiracle. For those of you who don’t know what a ShoeMiracle is. A ShoeMiracle is when you come across that perfect shoe that you immediately fall in love with and the shoe gods see fit that those shoes end up in your closet no matter what the obstacle (price, fit, etc.). I have sense gone on to have coat miracles, bag miracles etc. but I have to admit that none are as satisfying as a ShoeMiracle. I look forward to sharing my love of shoes and my ShoeMiracles with you through this blog.
