Manolo Blahnik was honored with the 2015 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion from The Couture Council of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Blahnik is the first ever footwear designer to receive the prestigious award from FIT. Blahnik’s award coincides with the release of his new book and the opening of the Manolo Blahnik boutique at Saks Fifth Avenue.
It seems crazy that most stores are on their second and third markdowns and Chanel is only starting their sale today. But that is Chanel. Anyways, the sale starts today in the boutiques and the department stores. The discount on shoes and clothing is 40% off. Happy Shopping!
Over the last few months, it seems like every major shoe designer has had some kind of sample or private sale. We can probably expect to see more as sample sale season kicks into full gear. In the meantime, next up is Roger Vivier. The Roger Vivier sale begins this Friday, March 20th and ends on Monday, March 23rd. Roger Vivier always offers up some interesting designs so it is definitely worth checking out this weekend. As usual, you should expect some long lines. It’s a shoe sale for pete’s sake! Details below. Enjoy!
I know that Mondays are typically reserved for man crushes. But, I would like to change that up a bit and start sharing my shoe designer crushes. This Monday I am kicking it off with Paul Andrew. There are many reasons why I love me some him. First and foremost, my first ever purchase of a blue shoes was one of his designs and I hate blue (at least I thought I did). Take a look at an illustration of the blue python Europeaus below and you will understand why I had to have them.
There is a surprise Brian Atwood designer sale in NYC today for one day only. Details are below for you brave souls willing to venture out into the freezing temperatures. As always, happy shopping and stay warm!
Today’s pick is Alaïa’s folded suede boot in red. Alaïa is known for his clingy dresses but I have to admit that I have found myself on many occasions dreaming about his shoes. They are beautifully crafted and extremely sexy. As soon as I saw this Alaïa boot I couldn’t help but fantasize about what they would look like on my feet. The holiday season is really kicking into gear now and I can’t think of a better pair of shoes to find under my Christmas tree. These boots are available to purchase from Net-a-Porter.
Paul Andrew took home the top prize at the 2014 CFDA/Vogue Fund awards last night. He launched his footwear line with his Spring 2013 Collection. The response to his shoes in just two short years has been nothing short of amazing. They have become a regular on the red carpet gracing the feet of celebs like Lupita Nyongo, Poppy Delevigne and Victoria Beckham to name my few. Winning the CFDA/Vogue prize proves that he is a creative force to be reckoned with in the footwear arena. The CFDA/Vogue prize was instrumental in catapulting the careers of Alexander Wang and Joseph Altuzarra so it will be interesting to watch Paul Andrew’s trajectory. Congratulations again to Paul Andrew!
When I first moved to NYC, I loved going to sample sales. It was the easiest way for me to satisfy my desire for designer goods without breaking the bank. I can tell you first hand that they can get crazy and the women can be ruthless so it didn’t come as a surprise to me to see that a WWD Beauty Editor lost it at the Manolo sample sale this week. Page Six reports that beauty editor Julie Naughton was spotted “screaming” and “bullying” other editors who were trying to cut in line. Yikes! I hope she walked away with some great shoes after this incident.

I continue to be impressed by Sophia Webster’s fun, flirty shoes. The combination of Webster’s fun, whimsical style with J.Crew’s classic sophistication results in a Holiday collection that is simply perfect for the J.Crew client. While I love all of the shoes in the collection, the Amma is the standout shoe for me. Not only are they gorgeous, but they are comfy too. Perfect to dress up with your holiday wear or dress down with a pair of jeans and they are still available to purchase from J.Crew.
Jimmy Choo does Cruise very well and its Cruise ’15 may be one of the best the designer has ever done. In its latest Cruise ’15 collection, Jimmy Choo has unveiled five bejeweled footwear looks combined with exotic skins including Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Black Diamond styles. Designed by Sandra Choi, the new capsule collection is titled “Vices”. I can’t think of a better name for the collection. Once you lay your eyes on the bejeweled designs you might just find yourself trying to make a deal with the Devil to get your hands on a pair especially given the price tag. A pair of shoes from the Vices will set you back $4,600. So unfortunately, my favorite pair, the Jing, the Ruby encrusted red python pair won’t end up in my closet but a girl can dream. In the meantime, enjoy some pictures of some of my favorites from the collection.
