I am still a little stunned that Prince is gone. I was really hoping that it was a cruel hoax. But, he is gone and with him a big chunk of my childhood seems to have died. I came of age to listening to Michael Jackson, Prince and Whitney Houston. I was allowed to have MJ and Whitney posters. Prince not so much. Purple Rain was damn near the equivalent of pornography in my house at the time so Prince was forbidden. But, like any determined kid I found a way to see it and I was mesmerized and instantly became a Prince fan. Prince was much more than music to me. He was this force of nature that transcended pretty much every boundary you can think of. Music, fashion, gender, whatever it was…Prince made up his own rules and we loved him for it. It’s been a while since a pair of shoes took my breath away. But, that is exactly what happened when I spotted Oscar Tiye AFEF sandal in platinum gold and silver glitter. Me thinks I just found my new evening shoe. Let the drooling commence.

Yesterday was so cold that I was basically ready to give up on life. In fact, I was all set to post a pair of winter boots in anticipation of the blizzard that is being forecast for this weekend. But, then I was scrolling through my Instagram and came across these lovelies. They basically gave me the will to live another day or at least until I can slip my feet into these shoes. Feast your eyes on these cutout sandals and join me in thanking Mr. Ford for giving me life yet again.
It’s no secret that I love special and unique shoes particularly if they are done in an exotic skin. Exotics are my cryptonite. But every woman needs a basic pump in her life and I am no different. Over the years my ideal basic pump has evolved and shifted. For a long time it was the Jimmy Choo Abel. Then it was Louboutin’s Decollete. Now it is Gianvito Rossi’s Pitone pump.
The release of Dior’s Dioressence pump last week got me thinking that I may be adding another to my roster. I am still in love with my Gianvito Rossi Pitones. But, it is nice to have some variety and the Dioressence with its sexy curved heel just might be what I am looking for. It doesn’t hurt that comes in some of my favorite colors of the rainbow.
So I am just finalizing my shoe resolutions or my intentions which seems to be the latest buzzword. Even though it is still early January, it feels like I am running late for some reason. I totally planned to send these out last week but I was kind of sick. Not sure if my sickness was an extreme holiday hangover or a bonafide illness. But I am back on my feet so here goes.
This year’s resolutions kind of flow from what I learned trying to stick with last year’s resolutions. I think I was fairly successful. I finally got a pair of Valentino rockstuds which I love and are as comfortable as everyone says they would be. I even Kondo’d my closet (which I am now affectionately calling the “Great Purge”). I even donated and sold a number of shoes. Continue reading

It is the end of the year and although people are still feverishly shopping for Christmas presents, New Year’s Eve is in the back of their minds. Most women of course are thinking about what they will wear. Stop and look no further…the Jimmy Choo Dolly pump is the perfect New Years Eve shoe. Nothing screams fun like pom pom pumps. Any woman wearing these shoes is guaranteed to have a great time ringing in the new year or frankly any night out on the town. So run out and scoop these up right away!
Get your shoe donations ready. Dress for Success is turning December 1st (#GivingTuesday) into #GivingShoesDay. You can donate your shoes at one of Dress for Success’ 140 world-wide affiliates. Shoe gooders will also be able to donate their shoes at the closest California Closets showroom through December 31st. Customers who donate during this time will receive up to a 10% discount at participating California Closets showrooms. So why don’t you make some deserving woman’s shoemiracle come true.
As everyone else prepares for the upcoming holidays I am preparing for the sales. You see the sales for me are just as synonymous of the holidays as turkey is to Thanksgiving or a tree is to Christmas. This is the time of year when just about everything goes on sale and I make it a point to snag the shoes or boots that I have been coveting all season. But so does every other woman. So I have developed a strategy for making sure that I get my shoes. Here are a few tips that help me navigate the sales both in store and online and hopefully will be useful to you as well.
Presale – This is probably the most civilized way to shop the sales. If you have a relationship with a salesperson at any department or shoe store ask them when the store begins pre-selling items that will be on sale. Frankly, you should ask even if you don’t have a relationship. Then select what you like and the salesperson will ring them when the sale starts. No fighting, no fuss. Presales have already started in most stores already. Continue reading
That’s right you can finally shop Dior shoes online, albeit temporarily. Today Dior launches an online pop-up shop at BG.com selling shoes from its Resort 2016 collection. You will be able to shop the collection beginning today until December 31st. This is a very big deal because Dior is one of the few remaining brands unwilling to make their clothing and accessories available online. It will be interesting to see if this pop-up shop serves as a test case for offering more of its collection online similar to Chanel’s pop-up shop with Net-a-Porter earlier this year.
